Prestigious award for the digitalisation of Busch-Hungária’s supply chain

Andrea Kötélverő, the supply chain manager of Busch-Hungária, has been elected Logistics Manager of the Year by the Hungarian Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management Association, the largest Hungarian organisation of the profession. Under her leadership, several innovative projects have been implemented at Hungary’s largest iron foundry, including the digitalisation of the company’s supply chain system and the renewal of waste management. The award was presented by Attila Chikán and Péter Horváth, the company’s presidents, and Tivadar Giltán at the Purchasing Conference held on 10 May in Budapest.

Under the leadership of Andrea Kötélverő, supply chain manager, Busch-Hungária has put all the processes supporting production at Hungary’s largest iron foundry on a new digital footing in four years. Thanks to the development, the company now manages all elements of its supply chain – raw material procurement, external and internal logistics, production planning, investment and factory development projects – in a single IT system. In parallel, the foundry has also made significant progress in terms of sustainability.

“The significance of digitalisation is that it ensures that Busch-Hungária’s operations are data-driven and enhances the company’s international competitiveness. Its implementation was an extremely complex, cross-cutting task, during which we also optimised a number of operational processes. For example, we have increased delivery accuracy to 95 percent, which is the basis for customer satisfaction. And by renewing waste management, we have made it possible to reuse and re-sell the plant’s old sand, which not only improves the company’s bottom line, but also represents another significant step towards circular material management,” says Andrea Kötélverő, Supply Chain Manager.

One of the biggest challenges of the future is to enhance the security of supply chains and related digital systems. Therefore, in addition to minimising financial and operational risks, the company sees information security as a priority area, which it intends to strengthen by introducing the TISAX model, which is a standard in the European automotive industry. Busch-Hungaria pays great attention to the training of its staff, which is extended to include security aspects in addition to the management of digital systems, software and smart devices.

“The Logistics Manager of the Year award is an important recognition of the teamwork we have done together with the management, the thirty supply chain employees and the colleagues who support our development with their ideas and experience. It is also a milestone in my nearly two-decade career as a senior manager, which has always focused on developing supply chains and building enterprise management systems. Thank you for the award.” – Andrea Kötélverő added at the award ceremony.

Since December 2018 Andrea Kötélverő is Supply Chain Manager at Busch-Hungária, Győr. She is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, external and internal logistics, production planning, and procurement management for investment and factory development projects at the iron foundry, which produces around 43,000 tonnes of vehicle parts from steel scrap annually. She specialises in supply chain digitisation and optimisation, and during his 18-year senior management career she has been responsible for implementing various ERP and warehouse management systems in several companies. Environmental awareness is a core value for her, and her professional interests include circular materials management, waste recycling and the development of related supply chains.
