Busch-Hungária has been awarded the Supplier of the Year 2023 award, which recognises the most dynamic automotive companies. Dávid Hegymegi, Managing Director of Busch-Hungária, said in an interview that for the country’s largest iron foundry, this year was again a year of investment, with a focus on digitalisation, infrastructure development and sustainability.
Busch-Hungária is developing dynamically, what steps are you taking to achieve this?
We are focused on creating growth opportunities and completely overhauling our operations. We have been doing this for years, and we have implemented or launched a number of technological, professional and organisational improvements that will enable us to be flexible in dealing with changes in the economic environment. The way to strengthen our international position is through continuous improvement. We will therefore continue to implement Busch-Hungária’s growth strategy in an adaptive but consistent manner.
What are the objectives of the company?
We are constantly working to improve efficiency and meet customer expectations to the maximum. This focuses on digitalisation, optimising operational processes and improving our services. For Busch-Hungária, 2023 was also about investment. In the long term, we will continue to move towards sustainable operations, both environmentally and economically, for example by renewing waste management and increasing energy efficiency.
What does digitalisation mean for the foundry?
As a result of years of work, we have connected the elements of our supply chain in a single IT system. The first phase, which was completed this year, covers all the processes that support production. It provides real-time data to support decisions on raw material procurement, external and internal logistics, production planning, investment and factory development projects. Meanwhile, we have optimised our operational processes and increased delivery accuracy to almost 100 per cent, improving not only efficiency but also customer satisfaction.
What progress has been made in energy management?
The major investments that form the backbone of our energy strategy have been completed: we have built new infrastructure to provide electricity, gas, compressed air and cooling water. The benefits of a modern energy system, in addition to lower operating costs and high security of supply, include new opportunities to improve our metering systems and reduce energy demand.
What is the focus of Busch-Hungária’s sustainability efforts?
Building on our current results, we will review and renew our energy strategy and continue to move towards circular material management. For example, we are prioritising energy efficiency and electrification, and we see untapped potential in waste recycling. All this is now being addressed by a dedicated team and we are working on obtaining further ISO certifications. Our company is committed to sustainable development.
