Continuous modernization drives development

Hungary’s largest iron foundry used almost its whole production capacity in June, producing over 5,000 tons of castings. At the end of last year, the Busch-Hungária plant in Győr closed one of its most successful years; and still, it was able to beat its former operating- and efficiency records twice this year. The results exceeding expectations have been based on a consistent investment strategy, and are made possible by technical and technological investments and investments that facilitate operation.

“Our production capacity enables the production of 60,000 tons of spheroidal graphite casting yearly; so, in June 2022, we got very close to the maximum by producing 5,037 tons, meeting our clients demands. Of course, not every month sees new records, but the scale of the development is indicated by the fact that the volume of production was 38% higher in June than in the first five months of the year. This was achieved through continuous technical developments and investments improving efficiency and precise production, e.g., through the increase of the level of robotization. And last but not least, we owe it to the dedicated and conscientious work of our 320 colleagues”, said Dávid Hegymegi, Executive Director of Busch-Hungária Kft. about the results.

The 5,037 tons of finished products in June was an absolute record in the 15-year history of Busch-Hungária. It was the first time that production was over five thousand tons in one month. This year’s March was also outstanding in terms of efficiency, as our molding line set a new record of a daily average of 2,111 molded and cast cabinets. In the first six months of 2022, Busch-Hungária Kft. already produced more than 23,000 tons of castings, which predicts a volume increase even in comparison with last year’s record 43,000 tons.

“We are developing Hungary’s largest foundry to a world class through the implementation of a continuous, complex investment strategy. This year we launched a long-term investment and development cycle, which focuses on the increasing of efficiency and improving work conditions. Several important projects facilitating work at the plant are already in the phase of implementation. Some of the activities have been robotized. The significant development of the equipment, improvement of air quality and modernization of lighting in all areas of the foundry are in progress. With these renovations, we help our staff, and at the same time, influence the results. Furthermore, we optimize plant processes in several areas, and we work on the preparation of further high-value technological investments”, added Dávid Hegymegi.

Busch-Hungária increased its iron foundry melting capacity by more than 30 percent last year, and raised the operational efficiency of the molding line to above 80 percent, a frontline level of the industry with, among other things, outstanding technical availability levels. The company has had an excellent year also in financial terms, its sales revenue was almost EUR 66.5 million in 2021.
