We improve work conditions through technical developments

Our professional achievements and business results were facilitated by the consistent investments of the past years. Equally important are the developments made for the improvement of the work conditions to ensure that our staff members can work in a more comfortable and secure environment. There are investments in several areas that facilitate proper and accurate work, and which contribute to the well-being of all our staff members in the Busch team.

Clean air through more effective exhaust
We are further improving the exhaust system at the furnaces so we can almost fully clean the air in the hall of the vapours, gases and smoke inevitably generated during the melting process. This is necessary, among other things, because efficiency and the produced volume significantly increased last year, so more smoke is generated during a given time. That is why at the ABP and also at the heat recovery furnaces we have installed new exhaust equipment which is capable of two to three times the output of the previous units. At the ABP furnaces, the new system will be able to exhaust 100,000 cubic meters per hour, while the former equipment did 41,000 cubic meters / hour, and at the heat recovery furnaces, the amount of air exhausted per hour will increase from 22,000 to 70,000 cubic meters. We are intensively working on the investment, the project is estimated to be implemented by the end of the year. Thanks to the developments, a great progress has been achieved in making air cleaner in the hall.

Cooling by blowing in fresh air
The team working at the online of the cleaning plant has hard physical work to do, which is specifically difficult in the summer heat. To solve this problem, we have built a special air supply system which decreases the temperature in this work area through the air blown in from outside and cooled using water. This equipment will blow in 14,000 cubic meters of fresh air per hour into that area. The same technology will be used also in the closed area of the maintenance workshop where the heat and the smoke of forklifts transporting molten metal are stuck inside. According to the plans, the new air blow-in devices will be in operation by summer, and we can start similar developments at other areas taking this experience into consideration. Using this modern equipment, we can ensure much more comfortable temperatures, which also facilitates work.

More light using modern lighting
At the plant areas where production is carried out, we will replace the old halogen system with LED lighting which has higher brightness and is more economical. Thanks to the investment, lighting conditions will be much better in all areas, which will help in performing the tasks accurately and quickly. This modernization was started last December; however, as it entails the reconstruction of the whole lighting system, the process will be completed in the second quarter of 2022. In the remaining areas of the plant where high-bay warehouses will be built, LED lighting will be introduced during the reconstruction. The new LED lights will provide much brighter visibility in the hall, and better visibility will facilitate more accurate work.
